Every Polyx asset — whether you generated it yourself or bought it from the marketplace — is delivered under one of three license tiers: Standard, Extended, or CC0. This page explains in plain language what each license lets you do, and includes a quick decision tree to help you pick the right one.

Standard license

Default for marketplace purchases under the basic credit packs.

You can:

  • Use the asset in unlimited commercial and non-commercial projects worldwide, royalty-free, in perpetuity.
  • Modify, retexture, animate, or composite the asset into your own work.
  • Embed the asset inside games, films, animations, advertising, training material, AR/VR experiences, and physical products.

You cannot:

  • Resell or redistribute the raw 3D file (GLB / FBX / OBJ) on its own.
  • Use the asset in templates, asset packs, or learning materials whose primary purpose is to redistribute the asset itself.
  • Apply for a trademark or claim exclusive ownership of the asset.

Extended license

Required when you want to redistribute the raw asset as part of a derivative product. Included by default with the Studio and Mega credit packs.

Includes everything in Standard, plus:

  • Resale of the asset within derivative products such as game-asset packs, course material, NFT collections, or 3D-print STL bundles.
  • Distribution of the asset to clients as part of a packaged deliverable when the asset itself is the product.
  • Use across multiple end-products under the same parent organisation without per-project licensing.

Extended does not grant exclusivity. The same asset can be licensed under Extended terms to other Polyx customers.

CC0 (public domain)

Some assets are released under Creative Commons Zero, the public-domain dedication.

You can: use the asset for any purpose, modify it, redistribute it, with or without attribution. There are no restrictions of any kind. CC0 assets are perfect for open-source projects, community jams, or learning resources.

The CC0 badge appears on the asset detail page and on the receipt.

Quick decision tree

  • Building a single game, film, app, or product? → Standard.
  • Reselling the asset itself on another marketplace, in a course pack, or as an NFT? → Extended.
  • Working on an open-source / community project where attribution is optional? → look for CC0 assets.
  • Need exclusive rights so no one else can license the same asset? → contact us about a custom commission.

AI-generated assets

Assets you generate yourself using the Polyx AI generator are yours: you receive a Standard license by default, and you can upgrade individual generations to Extended at checkout when buying credits.

You retain ownership and commercial rights to your generations, subject to applicable law and any third-party rights in the inputs you provide. See the Terms of Use for the full statement.

Attribution

Attribution is not required under Standard, Extended, or CC0 licenses. We always appreciate it when you link back to Polyx in credits or making-of posts, but you are not legally obliged to.

Licensing questions

If your use case does not fit neatly into Standard, Extended, or CC0 — for example, you need exclusive rights, a trademark licence, or terms tailored to a regulated industry — email hello@polyx.digital and we will work something out.
